Job Description

Job Summary

Speech language pathologists evaluate patients referred for appraisal of speech, language, voice, fluency, and dysphagia, carry out therapy, as appropriate, communicate results to patients, parents and other professionals, and participate in various Hospital or Community related activities. Evaluates, plans and implements treatment programs for referred patients according to accepted principles and practices of Speech Therapy. Supports all programs in the Rehabilitation Continuum. Maintains working relationships with Hospital leadership, physicians, nurses, case managers, social workers, allied health professionals, ancillary services, and hospital support personnel. Supervised by and reports to Therapy Manager or Senior Therapist. Supervises assistants, aides, and students.

Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing is the only hospital in the region accredited by both the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and The Joint Commission . Our Stroke Specialty and Brain Injury Programs are also CARF-accredited.

The 62 bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit provides acute inpatient medical rehabilitation services to patients with functional impairments as a result of various diagnoses including, stroke, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, multiple traumas, orthopedic conditions, amputations, and other disabling conditions.
