Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Berks Connect ("BerksConnect," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use berksconnect.com and our related directory, account, business-owner, subscription, newsletter, content, and job features (collectively, the "Services").

We do not sell personal information. We also do not currently use personal information for cross-site behavioral advertising. Some business information and User-submitted Content are intended to be public, as explained below.

1. Information We Collect

Account and Authentication Information

When you create or use an account, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, profile information, account identifiers, authentication method, sign-in timestamps, and an approximate country derived from sign-in network information. Authentication credentials are processed through our authentication provider. If you choose a third-party sign-in option, such as Google sign-in, that provider sends us the account information needed to authenticate you.

Business Listings and Owner Content

We collect information submitted when a Business is added, claimed, verified, or managed. This may include the business name, address, phone number, website, email address, hours, categories, service areas, descriptions, services, photos, logos, ownership or authorization information, and related communications. We also collect jobs, events, deals, announcements, images, and other Content a Business chooses to publish.

Communications and Newsletter Information

If you contact us, request support, respond to a survey, or join our newsletter, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, subject, message, communication preferences, and the source of a newsletter signup. We may also process country, timing, and technical signals to detect automated or abusive submissions.

Job Applications

If you apply to a job through BerksConnect, we collect your name, email address, phone number, cover letter, uploaded resume, the job you applied to, application status, and related timestamps. Job application materials are not intended to be published as ordinary directory content. We process them so BerksConnect personnel can review the submission and make it available to the Business associated with the job posting.

Subscription and Billing Information

Stripe processes payments for Plus and Premium subscriptions. Stripe collects payment-card and billing information directly. BerksConnect receives limited billing information such as your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, the plan or price selected, subscription status, billing interval, renewal or cancellation status, and transaction or invoice-related records. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Usage, Device, and Network Information

When you use the Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • IP address, approximate location or country, browser type, operating system, device information, user agent, access time, referring page, and pages viewed;
  • Search terms, categories, locations, filters, and other directory interactions;
  • Business-page impressions and views, website clicks, call clicks, direction requests, menu clicks, and the page or section where an interaction occurred;
  • Random session identifiers and, when you are signed in, an account identifier associated with certain activity;
  • Popup, email, and campaign events such as display, conversion, delivery, bounce, complaint, and unsubscribe status; and
  • Diagnostic, security, fraud-prevention, and error information.

Public and Third-Party Business Information

We collect business information from public records, publicly available websites and listings, data providers, and other public sources. This can include contact details, categories, locations, photos, ratings, public reviews, and other business information. We may use that information to create or update listings and to summarize recurring themes from public reviews.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services;
  • Create accounts, authenticate Users, and manage claims and business ownership;
  • Create, update, verify, moderate, and display business listings and related Content;
  • Process Plus and Premium subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, billing support, and fraud prevention;
  • Provide aggregate listing-performance analytics to claimed-business owners;
  • Process job applications and provide approved application materials to the applicable Business;
  • Send account, claim, billing, support, job, and other transactional communications;
  • Send newsletters or marketing communications when you subscribe or as otherwise permitted, and honor unsubscribe requests;
  • Respond to messages, support requests, corrections, and legal requests;
  • Understand search and browsing activity, measure campaigns and features, and improve the usefulness of the directory;
  • Generate AI-assisted descriptions, summaries, writing suggestions, and images; and
  • Enforce our policies, prevent misuse, comply with law, and protect BerksConnect, our Users, and the public.

3. Public Information and Information Shared with Businesses

Business Listings and owner-published Content are intended for public display. This can include business contact information, descriptions, categories, hours, photos, jobs, events, deals, announcements, and other information submitted for publication. Do not submit personal information for public display unless you are comfortable making it public.

If you apply for a job through BerksConnect, we share your application information and uploaded materials with BerksConnect personnel and the Business associated with that posting. That Business is independently responsible for how it handles the application after receiving it.

4. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use providers that support hosting, databases, authentication, file storage, analytics, payments, email delivery, content generation, data enrichment, security, and customer support. They may process information for us under their own terms and privacy commitments.
  • Current core providers: These include Supabase for database, authentication, and storage; Vercel for hosting and analytics; Google for site analytics and optional sign-in; Stripe for payments and subscription billing; Resend for email delivery; a third-party bot-detection and security service that processes technical browser and network signals when you use protected forms such as sign-in and account recovery; and AI service providers when AI-assisted features are used.
  • Businesses receiving applications: We provide job application materials to the Business associated with the job posting.
  • Legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law or legal process, enforce our policies, investigate misuse, prevent fraud, or protect rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transfers: Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of some or all of our business or assets.
  • With your direction or consent: We may disclose information when you ask us to or otherwise consent.

We do not sell personal information.

5. Cookies, Analytics, and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, browser storage, pixels, and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, session management, analytics, feature measurement, and spam prevention. Some are necessary for account and site functionality. Others help us understand how the Services are used.

Public pages use Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, and BerksConnect's internal listing analytics. These tools may collect page, device, network, session, referral, and interaction information. Google Analytics may set or read cookies according to its configuration. Browser settings can block or remove cookies, but doing so may affect sign-in and other features.

Some browsers offer a Do Not Track signal. Because no uniform response standard applies to all Services and uses, we do not currently respond to the browser's Do Not Track setting. We do not currently sell personal information or use it for cross-site behavioral advertising.

6. AI-Assisted Features

BerksConnect uses AI service providers to help generate or improve descriptions, public-review summaries, posts, images, guides, and other Content. When an AI-assisted feature is used, the prompt, relevant public business information, and Content supplied for that request may be sent to an AI provider to produce the requested result. Do not submit confidential, sensitive, or unnecessary personal information to an AI-assisted feature.

7. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain accurate business records, support an account or subscription, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why we collected it. Backup, security, billing, suppression, and legal records may remain after an account or item is deleted.

Public business information may remain in the directory after an account closes because the Listing can be based on public information rather than the account alone. Business owners may request a correction or removal review by contacting us.

8. Data Security

We use administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect information, including controls provided by our hosting, database, authentication, storage, payment, and email providers. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information. You can also:

  • Update available account and business information through your dashboard;
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link included in those messages;
  • Manage or cancel an active Paid Plan through the billing portal;
  • Use browser settings to control cookies and browser storage; and
  • Contact us to request account deletion, a business-information correction, or a review of a Listing removal request.

We may need to verify your identity or authority before completing a request. We may retain information when permitted or required for public business records, security, fraud prevention, billing, disputes, legal compliance, or other legitimate purposes.

10. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address it.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The Services link to Business websites, maps, social platforms, payment pages, and other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services and our practices change. We will post the updated policy with a revised "Last Updated" date and provide additional notice when required by law.
