Job Summary
The Infection Preventionist (IP):
Helps to prevent healthcare associated infections by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread.
Is responsible for surveillance, rounding, analyzing, interpreting, and the reporting of healthcare associated infections.
Supports the development of evidence-based organizational infection prevention policies/standards that meet state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting agencies standards.
Trains healthcare members in infection prevention.
Is a leader in infection prevention and serves as a resource, educator, researcher, and proponent of change in order to influence infection prevention improvement to provide quality health care within the organization.
Reports to the System Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
4 year/Bachelor's Degree
Experience
Infection Prevention Background/Experience Preferred
Experience in acute care setting with background in nursing, microbiology, respiratory therapy, etc. preferred
Certification and Licensure
Infection Control Practitioner Certification (CIC) within three years of hire date
ASCP Certification OR Compact RN License OR another clinical license or clinical cert
