Corrections and Content Complaints Policy
Last Updated: August 11, 2026
We publish local news, civic guides, and business information, and we work hard to get it right. When we get something wrong, we want to know, and we want to fix it. This page explains how to tell us about an error or dispute something we have published, and exactly what we do when you contact us.
What This Policy Covers
- News articles published by our county news desk, The Berks Beat
- Guides and other informational content we publish
- Business listings, including factual business information
- Ratings and review summaries displayed on business listings
- Any other content published by Berks Connect
Copyright complaints follow a separate legal process; use our DMCA and Copyright Policy. Content posted by users or businesses that violates our rules can also be reported under our Content Guidelines.
How to Report an Error or Complaint
Email hello@berksconnect.com with the subject line "Correction" or "Content Complaint." To help us act quickly, include:
- The web address (URL) of the page
- The exact statement or information you believe is wrong, quoted if possible
- Why it is wrong, with any supporting documents or sources
- Your name and contact information so we can follow up
- Your connection to the content, if any (for example, you are the person or business discussed)
What We Do When You Contact Us
- We acknowledge your report, normally within five business days.
- We review the claim against the record. For news content, that means re-checking the statement against the official documents the story cites and any documents you provide. For listings, ratings, and review summaries, it means re-checking the underlying data.
- We act on what we find. Possible outcomes:
- Correction: we fix the error promptly and note the correction on the article or page.
- Clarification: where the statement was accurate but unclear or missing context, we revise and note it.
- Update: where information was accurate when published but has since changed, we update or date-stamp it.
- Removal: in limited cases, removal is the right remedy; we decide that case by case.
- No change: if our review confirms the content is accurate, we tell you what we checked and why we stand by it.
- We respond to you with the outcome.
Material corrections to news articles are noted on the article itself, so readers can see what changed. We would rather publish a visible correction than quietly hope nobody noticed.
If You Believe a Statement About You Is False and Defamatory
If you believe we have published a false statement of fact about you or your business that harms your reputation, tell us that explicitly. Use the subject line "Content Complaint", identify the exact statement, explain what you contend the true facts are, and include any supporting documentation. We treat these reports with priority: we re-examine the statement against the primary sources before anything else in the queue, and if we got it wrong, we correct it promptly and visibly.
This process does not require you to give up any legal right, and nothing on this page limits any notice you may be entitled to give, or any remedy you may have, under Pennsylvania law. It exists because fixing a genuine error fast is better for everyone than a legal fight.
Disputing Business Information, Ratings, or Review Summaries
Business information on Berks Connect comes from publicly available sources, third-party data services, and owner submissions. Ratings and review summaries are generated from customer reviews available through public sources; we do not write them by hand, and no business can pay to change them.
- Factual listing information (hours, phone, address, categories): report it here, or claim your listing to correct it directly at any time.
- Ratings and review summaries: if you believe a rating or summary misrepresents the underlying public reviews, tell us. We re-check it against the source data, and where the summary is wrong or the data is stale, we regenerate or annotate it.
- Removal requests for listings are considered case by case as described in How We Collect Business Information.
Who Decides
A human is responsible for every decision under this policy. Our content is produced with AI assistance under written standards, but corrections, complaints, and removal decisions are owned by the publisher, who is accountable for everything published on this site. See our News Editorial Standards for how the news desk works.
