Free Food Pantry for LGBTQ+ People and Allies From the LGBT Center
The LGBT Center of Greater Reading runs a food pantry that gives out free shelf-stable food to LGBTQ+ people and their allies who need it. The pantry is open on the first and third Friday of every month. The page lists two different opening times for those days, 11am to 4pm in one place and 12pm to 4pm in another, so call ahead to check before you go.
You do not need to show ID. There is some paperwork to fill out when you come, and staff will help you with the forms if you ask.
Along with food, the pantry has resources for applying for SNAP benefits, plus nutrition information and recipes. The food and resources are provided by Helping Harvest.
The Center is at 640 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601. The phone number is (484) 345 5765. The Center's own hours are Monday through Friday from 12pm to 8:00pm, and it is closed Saturday and Sunday.
For the exact pantry dates each month, check the Center's monthly calendar at lgbtcenterofreading.com. The page does not say how much food you get or how often you may come back.
