What people love about Cafe Luna

Adjaruli Khachapuri (Cheese Boat)

The cheese boat is mentioned in the vast majority of reviews as a must-try signature dish, with customers raving about its cheesy, satisfying nature and the interactive experience of mixing in the egg.

The khachapuri is unreal. Warm, cheesy, and insanely satisfying.
Star of the show was the cheese boat which we ordered with extra egg, spinach and bacon - paired with the Georgian lemonade, out of this world.

Cuisine and Menu

Cafe Luna's menu centers on Eastern European and Caucasian regional cooking, with particular emphasis on Georgian cuisine. Eastern European and Georgian Culinary Traditions

Georgian cuisine, in particular, has gained international recognition for its distinctive preparations and flavor profiles. The country's location along ancient trade routes influenced its culinary development, incorporating elements from Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Central Asian cooking traditions.

Traditional Georgian breads and cheese preparations form an important part of this culinary heritage. The country developed numerous regional variations of cheese-filled breads, with different shapes and preparation methods associated with various parts of Georgia. These items are typically prepared fresh and served warm.

Russian and broader Eastern European influences appear in the menu through items like pelmeni, which are small dumplings typically filled with meat and served in broth or with accompaniments. Honey cakes represent another traditional preparation, featuring multiple thin layers of honey-flavored cake with cream filling, requiring significant time and skill to prepare properly.

Operating Model

Cafe Luna operates as a family-owned establishment, with the owners taking active roles in both the kitchen and front-of-house operations. This hands-on approach is characteristic of many ethnic restaurants where proprietors bring personal knowledge of traditional cooking methods and recipes from their cultural backgrounds.

The restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert, indicating extended operating hours that accommodate various meal periods throughout the day. This flexibility allows the establishment to serve morning coffee and pastry customers, midday lunch crowds, and evening diners seeking full meals.
