Community Evangelical Church

Nestled in the heart of Reading, Pennsylvania, Community Evangelical Church is more than just an evangelical church—it’s a vibrant, faith-centered family with an open door for everyone. From the moment you step onto our campus, you’ll sense an atmosphere that visitors describe as “warm” and “home-like,” where strangers quickly become friends and newcomers feel genuinely embraced.

A Warm and Hospitable Family

One of the most frequently praised aspects of Community Evangelical Church is the genuine hospitality of our congregation. Regular attendees speak of a “warm welcoming atmosphere” that puts first-time guests at ease. Whether you arrive early on a Sunday morning or join a midweek Bible study, expect friendly hellos at the door, introductions over coffee, and a hand to guide you into any class or conversation. This spirit of openness reflects our conviction that God’s love is not reserved for a select few but extended to every person—no matter their background or story.

Sound Biblical Teaching and Compassionate Leadership

At the core of Community Evangelical Church is a commitment to clear, impactful biblical preaching. Attendees often remark, “I really liked the sermon,” and “great preaching” is a common refrain. Each message is thoughtfully crafted to connect scripture with real-life challenges—encouraging growth, hope, and practical faith. Leading this teaching ministry is our pastoral team, including Pastor Matt and Pastor Mike, both celebrated for their approachable manner and genuine care. Their ability to explain complex biblical truths in everyday language has earned them descriptions like “lovable pastors” and “great leaders,” underscoring how vital pastoral guidance is to our community’s spiritual health.

Dynamic Programs and Sunday School Choices

Families and individuals alike find a perfect fit in our robust lineup of programs. With three weekend services and an extensive Sunday School curriculum, there’s truly something for everyone. Children and teens thrive in age-appropriate classes designed to engage young minds, while adult Bible study groups delve into everything from foundational doctrine to practical life application. Grandparents have shared how much they enjoy “lots of Sunday School choices for adults,” and parents appreciate knowing their kids are growing in faith alongside peers. Beyond Sunday mornings, our calendar overflows with small groups, service opportunities, and fellowship events that deepen connections and foster spiritual maturity.

Thrilling Moments of Baptism

Few experiences capture the excitement of faith like baptism—and at Community Evangelical Church, those moments happen regularly. From nine scheduled baptisms to unexpected, impromptu celebrations, each immersion testifies to transformed lives and a living faith. One attendee summed it up perfectly: “Just saw their video of 9 scheduled & 2 impromptu baptisms…that was totally awesome!” Whether planned well in advance or arising spontaneously in worship, these gatherings unite our congregation in joyful praise and serve as powerful reminders that every story matters.

Embracing Everyone

We believe the gospel calls us to include all people, including those with special needs. Many families have found our team eager to listen, adapt, and create welcoming spaces. As one parent shared, “A member of our family has special needs, and he has been embraced by the church.” We celebrate these successes and acknowledge the journey is ongoing. Some have expressed concerns when programs didn’t fully meet their expectations, and we take that feedback to heart—committing ourselves to refine and expand our support so every individual can participate fully in worship, learning, and community life.

Worship and Music: A Journey Together

Our worship style aims to honor tradition while inviting fresh expressions of praise. We recognize that musical preferences vary—one visitor noted difficulty relating to our repertoire and felt hesitant when asked to engage immediately. We value this perspective and are continually exploring ways to blend familiar hymns with newer songs, ensuring worship time resonates across generations. Your voice and feedback are welcome here, as we seek to craft corporate praise that glorifies God and uplifts every heart in the room.
