Value You Can Count On

At the core of Dollar General’s appeal is its unbeatable pricing. Shoppers consistently praise the store’s low prices and high value, making it easy to stretch every dollar. Whether you’re stocking up on pantry staples, picking up cleaning supplies, or grabbing last-minute toiletries, you’ll find quality products at wallet-friendly rates. One satisfied customer remarked, “Love DG! The prices are great and they have all the essentials for a great price,” while another noted the “quality products for the low price” that keep them coming back.

Beyond everyday basics, this Reading discount store surprises customers with unique, budget-minded finds. From the recently featured personal-size blender at just $15.00 to exclusive items like Scrub Buddies, Dollar General delivers both necessities and delightful extras you might not expect from a neighborhood dollar store.

Product Selection & Inventory

As a grocery store and produce market, Dollar General stocks a wide range of canned and boxed goods, fresh produce, snacks, beverages, and health and beauty items. Customers seeking hair products, laundry detergent, bath soap, or floor cleaner appreciate the breadth of offerings—when items are in stock. While some shoppers have encountered out-of-stock frustrations (“Every time I go … they are 100% wiped clean”), Dollar General remains committed to improving its inventory management. Frequent restocking drives and supplier partnerships are in place to reduce empty shelves and ensure the items you need are available when you need them.

Store Organization & Cleanliness

Clean, well-organized aisles are essential for a smooth shopping experience. Acknowledging feedback about occasional clutter and misaligned shelves, the Reading team continually works to maintain orderly displays and clear walkways. Customers have pointed out challenges—“items on shelves were all over the place”—and Dollar General takes these remarks to heart, implementing regular shelf audits and staff training to keep the store presentable, accessible, and safe for everyone.

Customer Service & Staff Attitude

Exceptional service is as important as low prices. While some patrons have reported unfriendly or inattentive interactions (“The older taller red headed African woman … is extremely rude”), many others at this location have praised the respectful, helpful teams on duty. One shopper shared, “Workers very respectful … always a satisfied customer,” and another noted, “Very friendly and helpful workers—this store has all I need.” Dollar General’s management encourages staff engagement and ongoing customer-service training to ensure every visit feels courteous and efficient.

Checkout & Convenience

Time is precious, and long checkout lines can be a major inconvenience. The Reading store has faced comments about limited registers and lengthy waits (“Only two registers open & … huge line”), but plans to optimize staffing levels during peak hours are underway. Whether you’re rushing to grab a quick snack or checking out with a full grocery cart, Dollar General strives to minimize wait times and keep your shopping trip swift and stress-free.

Hours & Accessibility

Open late to accommodate busy lifestyles, Dollar General in Reading endeavors to match its posted store hours. Although there have been isolated instances of early closures (“It says it is open until 10 but it was closed at 5”), the team constantly reviews scheduling to provide reliable availability. Wide aisles, clear signage, and accessible entryways make it easier for customers with strollers, wheelchairs, or mobility concerns to shop safely and comfortably.
