Hartefeld National

Nestled in the rolling hills of Avondale, PA, Hartefeld National is more than just a private golf course—it’s a vibrant social club, fitness center, tennis club, swimming pool oasis, and elegant wedding venue all in one. From a Tom Fazio–designed golf course to cozy patio gatherings, this country club and event venue offers something for every member and guest, delivering memorable experiences with every visit.

The Championship Golf Experience

At the heart of Hartefeld National is its renowned golf club and golf course, proudly designed by legendary architect Tom Fazio. Golfers consistently praise the meticulously maintained fairways and groomed, lightning-fast greens. “The course is well maintained, open fairways, groomed greens and has some great views,” raves one member, while another notes, “Great design, nice elevation changes, quick greens. Hoping for a sunny day next year.” Every hole presents a fresh challenge—subtle elevation shifts, strategic bunkers, and scenic vistas of Pennsylvania’s countryside—making it a standout private golf course for both casual rounds and tournament play.

Culinary Delights That Delight the Palate

Hartefeld National’s dining room and grill deliver a culinary experience as thoughtfully crafted as its golf course. Standout dishes have earned near-cult status among regulars: the Portobello mushroom soup has been dubbed “outstanding—wish I could have had a gallon to take home!” and the pork belly sliders “with slaw” consistently draw praise for their perfect balance of flavors.
While the menu features seasonally inspired entrées and chef’s specials, guests appreciate the attentive staff who answer questions and adapt dishes when possible. Even so, occasional reports of uneven seasoning or long wait times remind the kitchen and service teams to keep refining their craft, ensuring each plate matches the high expectations set by Hartefeld’s epicurean reputation.

Personalized Service & Warm Hospitality

Behind every exceptional moment at Hartefeld National are team members who go above and beyond. New members frequently highlight the seamless onboarding experience led by Madison and Josh: “Both Madison and Josh were fantastic helping answer initial questions and making us feel welcome!” And longtime patrons praise staff like Colleen for their genuine friendliness and professionalism.
This commitment to service permeates every corner of the club—from assisting members with tee times to delivering refreshments poolside. While some guests have noted slow drink orders or delayed check presentations during peak hours, the leadership team continuously invests in training and staffing to strike the perfect balance between efficiency and the club’s trademark warmth.

A Venue for Celebrations Big and Small

Hartefeld National’s event spaces blend rustic elegance with modern amenities, making it a top choice for weddings, bridal showers, corporate retreats, and social gatherings. The sweeping patio, charming bocce courts, and beautifully appointed halls create picture-perfect backdrops for everything from alfresco cocktails to grand receptions. “The grounds and halls were absolutely beautiful!” one satisfied bride enthused, while another proclaimed, “The perfect wedding venue! We had the best day/night of our lives at Hartefeld.”
Event coordinators work closely with hosts to design personalized layouts, menus, and timelines. Though occasional logistical hiccups—like insufficient fans on a hot day—have prompted refinements, the overall consensus applauds Hartefeld’s ability to turn milestone moments into lifelong memories.

Beyond golf and gourmet dining, Hartefeld National offers amenities designed to nurture both fitness and leisure. Members can stay in peak form at the state-of-the-art fitness center or challenge friends on the lighted tennis courts.
