JOANN Fabric and Crafts

Nestled in the heart of Reading, PA, JOANN Fabric and Crafts is your one-stop home goods store, art supply store, bead store, fabric store, craft store, picture frame shop, scrapbooking store, sewing machine store, sewing shop, and yarn store. Whether you’re an experienced quilter, a weekend scrapbooker, or a DIY home decorator, JOANN’s spacious aisles and knowledgeable team give you everything you need under one roof. From bolts of vibrant fabric to racks of colorful yarn, to an entire section dedicated to picture framing and glassware, JOANN is where creativity comes to life.

Unmatched Product Selection and Availability

With an expansive inventory that spans nearly every craft imaginable, JOANN Reading consistently delights shoppers seeking variety and quality. One customer raved, “Jo-Ann Fabrics is one of the first places someone should go if they have any crafting needs. … almost any craft that you could want to work with they’ll have something for you.” You’ll find paints for fine art, beads for custom jewelry, scrapbooking essentials, kids’ craft kits, seasonal décor items, and more—making JOANN a go-to destination for DIY enthusiasts and professional makers alike.

Friendly Expertise (with Room to Grow)

Customers often praise the store’s warm, personalized assistance. Shoppers frequently mention employees by name, highlighting moments like Mia’s patience at the fabric counter—“She was a wonderful help cutting our fabric and even went out of her way to make sure we got exactly what we needed”—and Cheyenne’s upbeat attitude during a busy closing shift. These standout interactions illustrate how JOANN’s staff can transform a routine shopping trip into a memorable experience. While some reviews note occasional lapses in friendliness—“They never smile, greet you or make you feel welcomed”—many patrons say their experiences are consistently positive, creating a welcoming environment for newcomers and repeat visitors alike.

Competitive Pricing, Clever Discounts, and Coupon Nuances

JOANN’s regular sales and competitive pricing give shoppers plenty of reasons to return. “Prices are also cheaper than their local competitor,” one patron reported, appreciating the value during big project purchases. JOANN’s frequent promotions and seasonal markdowns offer further savings. That said, the coupon policy can occasionally frustrate bargain hunters: “I get really annoyed with their coupon policy. Everything goes on sale so you can’t use the coupons,” explained one shopper. Armed with the JOANN app and email alerts, savvy crafters can plan purchases around major sales, maximizing savings while navigating the coupon guidelines.

Seamless (Mostly) Online Ordering and Curbside Pickup

In today’s fast-paced world, JOANN offers a streamlined online experience for ordering, paying, and picking up supplies—an advantage many customers celebrate. “One of the best things about Jo-Ann Fabrics is their app. You can shop online, order online, pay online, and do in-store pickup,” shared one happy user. This digital convenience is especially helpful for busy parents, working professionals, and crafters on tight deadlines. However, a few have encountered hiccups: orders delayed by address recognition issues, or curbside pickups that took longer than expected. Overall, the store’s blend of tech and touch remains a strong asset for today’s hybrid shopping habits.

Efficient Checkout and Service Areas

Although JOANN Reading strives to keep registers well staffed, customers sometimes face long lines and wait times—especially during peak weekend hours or around major sales events. One review lamented, “It took forever for anyone to assist me with anything… had to wait for an almost absurdly long time.” Another noted a ten-minute curbside wait without assistance. While these incidents can test patience, many shoppers find that planning visits during off-peak hours or using self-checkout lanes helps streamline the process.

Convenient In-Store Amenities

One of JOANN’s most praised amenities is the availability of an on-site sewing machine—an emergency lifesaver when personal machines break down mid-project. As one customer enthusiastically recalled, “My sewing machine broke… This store generously allowed me to come in and use their sewing machine to complete my project.” This thoughtful service exemplifies JOANN’s commitment to putting customers’ needs first. In addition, the store’s picture framing shop and scrapbooking section provide expert guidance and specialized tools to bring your personalized designs to life.

Clean, Organized, and Inspiring Atmosphere

Shoppers consistently comment on the store’s tidy, well-organized layout. “Nice, organized, and clean store,” one guest observed, while another added, “This Jo-Ann’s is always nice and clean. The staff is always helpful.” Wide aisles, clear signage, and well-stocked shelves contribute to a pleasant browsing experience—making it easy to find exactly what you need and discover new inspiration around every corner.

Returns, Refunds, and Customer Care

While JOANN offers a broad selection of high-quality craft supplies, some customers have found the return and refund process challenging. Complaints range from strict policies on clearance items to extra trips required for online order refunds. “How inconvenient that I now have to make another trip to the store to get my money back from an online order!” noted one shopper. Prospective visitors should review JOANN’s return guidelines online or consult store staff to ensure a smooth resolution if plans change.
