Arboretum Education - Roots, Legends, Lore & Traditions of the Christmas & Yule Season presented by Dave Kline
December 15, 2026 · 10:00 AM · The Reading Public Museum, 500 Museum Road · Free program, no registration needed

About the event
The Reading Public Museum's arboretum education series turns to the winter holidays with a morning talk from Dave Kline on the roots, legends, lore, and traditions of the Christmas and Yule season. Expect a look at where familiar seasonal customs come from, including the evergreens, logs, and greenery that carried meaning long before they became holiday decorations.
Kline is a familiar figure around Berks County as a singer, songwriter, bandleader, and longtime champion of traditional folk culture and the local arts. The Pennsylvania native has been recognized for his volunteer service to farm preservation, traditional folk culture, and the arts in Berks, and he brings that storytelling background to the way he traces a season's history.
The arboretum education programs are presented by Master Gardeners, horticulturists, and other specialists, and they gather in the museum auditorium unless noted otherwise. It makes for a good December stop for gardeners, history lovers, and anyone curious about why we do what we do this time of year.
Hosted by Reading Public Museum on BerksConnect.
