Soul Nation Old School Hip Hop Sunday Funday
February 28, 2027 · 3:00 PM · 136 N 6th St, Reading
About the event
Soul Nation brings a classic hip hop lineup to the Santander Performing Arts Center on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2027, with a 3:00 PM start. The bill features Chubb Rock, Doug E. Fresh and Nice & Smooth, three names that shaped the sound of late 1980s and early 1990s rap radio and block parties.
Doug E. Fresh built his reputation as the Human Beat Box, turning breath and rhythm into a full percussion section, and his work on tracks like "The Show" and "La Di Da Di" remains some of the most sampled material in the genre. Chubb Rock is known for a deep, commanding delivery on hits including "Treat 'Em Right." Nice & Smooth, the duo of Greg Nice and Smooth B, trade verses with an easy chemistry heard on "Sometimes I Rhyme Slow" and their guest turn on "DWYCK."
A matinee start makes this an easy outing for anyone who would rather be home before the evening winds down. Doors open at 2:00 PM, so there is time to find your seat and settle in before the first set. The venue sits on North 6th Street in downtown Reading, within walking distance of area parking and restaurants.
Hosted by Santander Performing Arts Center on BerksConnect.
