Berks County Diaper Bank at Mary's Shelter in Reading
Mary's Shelter in Reading is the site for the Berks County Diaper Bank, which hands out diapers to families one day each month. The program began as a pilot with five local agencies in 2016 with 15 families enrolled, and it now serves 155 families and diapers 485 children each month.
Diapers are for children under the age of 3 years old, and for older children if they are still in diapers.
There is a one-time fee of $5 per child needing diapers, and that fee covers 12 months of diapers.
A register form should be completed before the first visit so there is enough supply on hand. The page does not say where to get that form or how to turn it in, so ask before your first visit.
The diaper bank is held the 3rd Monday of the month, from 9am to 2pm, at Mary's Shelter, 615 Kenhorst Blvd, Reading, PA 19611. Mary's Shelter lists 610-376-1973 as its general phone number, which is where to call with questions about the diaper bank.
Because distribution happens on only one day each month, plan around that Monday. The page does not say what documents to bring.

The details
In Mary's Shelter’s words
Mary’s Shelter joined forces with five local agencies to pilot the Diaper Bank Program & Services in 2016, in response to the growing concern about struggling families “reusing” diapers by letting them dry overnight. The Program started with just 15 families enrolled. In 2017, Mary’s Shelter was asked to continue this project and become the site for the Berks County Diaper Bank. We currently serve 155 families and diaper 485 children each month.
