Parents as Teachers Home Visits for Reading Families From CHOR

CHOR Youth & Family Services runs Parents as Teachers in Reading, a home visitation program in which a trained Parent Educator comes to your home to support your child's early learning and your family's well-being.

It is for families expecting or parenting children from birth through kindergarten.

The Parent Educators have backgrounds in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or related fields, and the program is evidence based. It offers personalized home visits, developmental screenings that check how your child is growing and learning, group activities, and connections to community resources, with the goal of supporting school readiness and family well-being. Bilingual staff are available to serve Spanish-speaking families.

The program came to CHOR in 2023, when Community Prevention Partnership became aligned with The Children's Home of Reading Youth and Family Services. Those programs serve more than 2,000 individuals throughout Berks and Schuylkill County.
