Help for Grandparents and Relatives Raising Children From PA KinConnector
PA KinConnector is a statewide information, referral and education program for kinship caregivers, and you can reach its staff by calling 1-866-546-2111. The KinConnectors who answer give guidance, advice and support to grandparents raising grandchildren and to other relative and non-relative kinship caregivers.
It is for kinship caregivers in any of Pennsylvania's 67 counties, including Berks. Kinship caregivers are blood and non-blood relatives who care for children when their biological parents cannot. That includes grandparents, aunts or uncles, siblings of the children needing care, cousins, and non-blood "relatives" such as a teacher, coach or family friend.
The KinConnectors help with information on financial assistance, legal information and referrals, and other issues caregivers face when raising children, with the goal of stability and permanency in the home.
To get started, call 1-866-546-2111. You can also fill out the Permission to Contact Form on the site so staff can reach you, or send a message to admin@kinconnector.org. The site also offers brochures and kinship family kinfographics, an at-a-glance list of county services, and information on support groups.
The page does not give a cost for the helpline or the hours it is answered.
