Refugee Health Screening Providers Listed by the State of Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Refugee Resettlement Program keeps a directory of the organizations it contracts with around the state, including a list of refugee health screening providers with their addresses and phone numbers. The directory is published by the Department of Human Services at pa.gov under PA Refugee Service Contractors Directory.
No screening provider is listed in Berks County. The providers are grouped by the region where their offices are, and the ones outside Philadelphia and western Pennsylvania are:
- Neighborhood Center of the Lehigh Valley, Vida Nueva at Casa, located inside Casa Guadalupe Center, 218 North 2nd Street, Allentown, PA 18102, phone 610-841-8400, listed under Allentown.
- Sadler Health Center, 100 North Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, phone 717-218-6670, listed under Harrisburg.
- Union Community Care, listed under Lancaster, at three sites: Lancaster Grandview Plaza, 802 New Holland Avenue Suite 200, Lancaster, PA 17602, phone 717-299-6371; Lancaster Downtown, 304 N Water St, Lancaster, PA 17603, phone 717-299-6371; and Lebanon Medical, 920 Church Street, Lebanon, PA 17046, phone 717-272-2700.
- Redi-Care, 648 N. Main Avenue, Taylor, PA 18517, phone 570-348-1101, listed under Scranton.
To schedule an appointment at a Union Community Care location, call 717-299-6372 ext. 23302. The directory gives no appointment or intake instructions for the other providers, so the number printed next to each office is the contact for that office.
Beyond the names, addresses and phone numbers, the directory does not say what a screening includes, who qualifies, what it costs, what to bring or what hours any office keeps. Ask when you call. The list also marks the Philadelphia providers as not contracted through DHS, and the Multi-Cultural Health Evaluation Delivery System in Erie and Squirrel Hill Health Center in Pittsburgh are the far-western entries.
The same directory has a separate section of regional refugee support service providers offering resettlement, employment, English as a Second Language, legal assistance, citizenship preparation and youth mentoring, with their own addresses and phone numbers.
