Baking Assistant

A small, high-end cake shop in the heart of West Reading is seeking a cake/cupcake decorator and baking assistant with an intermediate-to-expert skill set. Duties include assisting with preparation of cake batters, buttercreams, cake pops and sugar cookies; baking and filling French macarons; basic kitchen tasks such as dish washing and cleaning kitchen equipment and the store front area; waiting on customers with a positive, friendly demeanor when needed; filling and crumb coating cakes; decorating buttercream cakes and assisting with fondant cake decoration when needed; and hand-making fondant decorations. Requirements: baking and decorating experience/knowledge is required; commercial kitchen experience preferred but not mandatory; a positive attitude and willingness to learn; organized, efficient and able to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment; must have own transportation; must comply with and actively support a Drug Free Workplace; must be able to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet most of the day; must be available to work Saturdays; must be available before/after business hours during the busy holiday season and major holidays (Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.); impeccable work ethic, dependability, punctuality and perfect attendance are a must.
