The Berks County Intermediate Unit's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) Program serves Berks, Chester, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Schuylkill Counties by ensuring children and youth experiencing homelessness have equal access to educational opportunities and the support they need to succeed in school.

We are seeking 1 - 2 interns to support student programming and community outreach efforts within the region to school districts, early childhood providers, shelters, and other community stakeholders. Interns will assist with outreach for children and youth experiencing homelessness, collaborate with schools and community partners, participate in meetings and events, and support student and family engagement programs. This position includes both remote work and in-person responsibilities. Interns will work remotely as assigned and are also expected to travel within the community throughout their assigned area. In-person locations and travel requirements will vary based on scheduled programming and the intern's location within the region.

Summary of position :

Assist PA's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness and Educational Stability for Foster Care Youth in supporting students experiencing homelessness and students in foster care in Region 2.

Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):

Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and program partners both in person, on the phone, and electronically.

Communicate regularly with supervisor and team members.

Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain required documentation.

Complete applicable training

Qualifications:

High School diploma and college-level general education coursework required.

Experience working with at-risk youth preferred.

Ability to exhibit professional verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work in a shelter and/or school environment and be a team player.

Ability to multi-task and take initiative.

Schedule:

Temporary/Seasonal, Part Time

Salary:

Starting at $18.60/hour
