Schuylkill Valley High School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to provide instructional services and case management for students receiving special education support. The successful candidate will create an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and independence while collaborating with families, teachers, administrators, and support staff.

Essential Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, standards-based instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Implement accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction to support student success.

Develop and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.

Monitor student progress and collect data to inform instructional decisions.

Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure appropriate implementation of accommodations and modifications.

Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences as assigned.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to student progress and special education compliance.

Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.

Utilize instructional technology and evidence-based practices to enhance student learning.

Foster positive relationships that support student achievement and well-being.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Director of Special Education.

Qualifications

Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certificate.

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.

Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary educational team.

Experience working with high school students is preferred.
