Job Description
Job Summary
The Radiation Therapy Technician:
Administers radiation treatments according to the treatment prescription authorized by the radiation oncologist
Obtains images used to plan and target the radiation
Assesses patient condition prior to simulation/treatment administration
Provides patient education on an ongoing basis throughout the course of simulation/treatment.
When assigned to CT simulation, the Radiation Therapy Technician:
Creates immobilization and treatment aid/accessory devices specific for each patient
Utilizes technical knowledge operating a CT scanner and MED RAD power injector for IV contrast administration
Obtains and analyzes cross sectional imaging for treatment planning according to the physician intent
Obtains IV sites for contrast administration and performs blood draws as indicated.
