Voters in Hamburg Borough's second precinct will cast their ballots at the Hamburg Field House, 125 S. Primrose St., on Nov. 3. They used to vote in the second-floor council room of the Hamburg Borough Building, 61 N. Third St.

The Berks County Election Board approved the move on Sept. 24 as a permanent change starting with the 2026 general election, according to minutes the county posted Oct. 9. Commissioner Dante Santoni Jr. made the motion and Vice Chair Christian Y. Leinbach seconded it. The minutes do not record a roll call, do not give a reason for the move, and show no public comment. The meeting lasted four minutes.

The county's precinct map for Hamburg 2, updated Oct. 8, now lists the Hamburg Field House as the polling place.

Three precincts have changed polling places

Hamburg 2 is one of three Berks precincts whose polling place changed for this election, based on Election Board minutes and agendas and the county's precinct maps. On Oct. 8 the board also approved two other changes, the Reading Eagle reported: Reading's Ward 12, Precinct 3, votes at the Olivet Boys and Girls Club, 722 Mulberry St., which the Eagle described as a return to the precinct's permanent location, and Shoemakersville's Precinct 1 moves to the Shoemakersville Borough Office, 846 Main St. Our Election Board coverage has details. The Eagle reported that letters would go to voters in those two precincts; the Sept. 24 minutes do not say whether Hamburg 2 voters will get one.

The Hamburg change was approved two weeks earlier, at a Sept. 24 meeting whose minutes the county posted only this week.

Also at the Sept. 24 meeting

Elections Director Anne Norton told the board the first data file had gone to the ballot printer and that mail-in and absentee ballots should start going out in early October. Over-the-counter voting would start Oct. 5, she said. The Reading Eagle later reported that the printing vendor held up mail ballots and that Norton told the board on Oct. 8 the vendor said ballots would be mailed by the end of that day.
