This class covers the basics of freestyle embroidery, with designs drawn from the plants growing in GoggleWorks' Gardens at Lauer's Park. You learn the basic stitches and work toward loose, flowing compositions, with meditative music playing while you settle into the repetition of stitching.
By the end you take home a hand stitched sample of the basic stitches to use as a reference, plus several hoops holding your own floral designs. The class is open to all skill levels, so no prior embroidery experience is needed. It is taught by Alex Crawford and meets on Saturday mornings in the Textiles Studio, room 316, on the third floor of GoggleWorks at 201 Washington Street in Reading.
Registration is online through the GoggleWorks class page. Note that registration closes five business days before the first session, and students under 18 enrolled in an adult course need written permission from a parent or guardian. Check the class page for refund and withdrawal policies and for any supply details before you sign up.
