This five session class introduces glassblowing through demonstrations and hands-on work at the bench. Students practice basic techniques while the group talks about historical and contemporary glass movements, simple glass chemistry, and how the studio is used. It is open to all skill levels and is set up for adults.
Sessions meet Thursdays from 6 PM to 9 PM, running October 15 through November 12, in the Glassblowing Studio in Building 5 at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St in Reading. Wear closed-toe shoes, bring a hair tie if you have long hair, and bring your own water bottle. Staff at the front desk can point you to the right building when you arrive.
Sign up through the class page on the GoggleWorks site. Registration closes five business days before the first meeting, and payment is due when you register. Scholarships are available through GoggleWorks, and students under 18 enrolling in an adult course need written permission from a parent or guardian.
