This ceramics class covers the basics of building pots and other objects by hand, without a wheel. Students work with pinching, coil building, and soft slab construction. Each session opens with ceramic vocabulary, a look at images of finished pieces made with that day's technique, and a short demonstration of the project. It is open to all skill levels, so no prior clay experience is needed. Cheryl Huber is the instructor.
Sessions run on Monday evenings from 6 PM to 9 PM for five weeks, and the class meets in the Ceramics Studio in Building 3 on the GoggleWorks campus at 201 Washington Street in Reading. Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. If you are not sure where to go, staff at the front desk can point you to the right building.
Sign up through the class page on the GoggleWorks website. Registration closes five business days before the first session. Students under 18 enrolling in an adult course need written permission from a parent or guardian, which GoggleWorks provides by email. Scholarship information is also available on their site.
