This introductory sewing class at GoggleWorks covers the groundwork: machine maintenance, seam ripping, stabilizing fabric, telling fabric types apart, and other basic skills. By the end you should understand how sewing comes together well enough to start making your own wearables and handmade items. Ariel Walker leads the class, which is open to all skill levels.
The group meets on Tuesday evenings from 6 PM to 9 PM for five sessions in the Textiles Studio, room 316 on the third floor at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St in Reading. Studio sewing machines and equipment are provided. Bring your own fabric and thread. Ages 14 and up are welcome, and students under 18 enrolling in an adult course need written permission from a parent or guardian, arranged with the GoggleWorks programs staff ahead of the start date.
Register on the class page. Registration closes five business days before the first session, and a waitlist is available if the class fills, though a waitlist spot is not a guaranteed seat.
