This introduction to the potter's wheel covers the basics of throwing cylinders, cups, bowls and other forms. Instructor Heidi Sensenig guides students through throwing, shaping and trimming, along with basic surface decoration and glazing. It is open to all skill levels, so no previous clay experience is needed.
The class runs on Mondays from 9 AM to 12 PM for six sessions, September 14 through October 19, and meets in the Ceramics Studio in Building 3 at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St in Reading. Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. If you are not sure where to go, the front desk can point you to the right building.
Ages 14 and up. Written permission is required for students under 18 enrolled in an adult course, so contact GoggleWorks ahead of time if you are signing up a minor. Registration closes five business days before the first session, and sign up is through the GoggleWorks class page. If the class is full, you can add your name to the waitlist.
