This beginner ceramics class at GoggleWorks covers the basics of working on a potter's wheel. Students learn to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and other forms, then shape and trim their pieces. Basic surface decoration and glazing techniques are also part of the class, so you can finish the work you make. Justin George is the instructor, and the class is open to all skill levels.
Sessions run Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM for six meetings, from October 17 through November 21. Class meets in the Ceramics Studio in Building 3 on the GoggleWorks campus at 201 Washington St in Reading. Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. Ages 14 and up are welcome, and teens under 18 enrolling in an adult course need written permission from a parent or guardian, which GoggleWorks can provide by email.
Registration is online through the GoggleWorks class page and closes five business days before the start date. Payment is due in full when you register, and GoggleWorks lists its refund and cancellation policies on the same page. Scholarships are available through GoggleWorks.
