About the workshop
This one session workshop at GoggleWorks shows you how to build a woven basket out of clay. You roll coils and slabs by hand, then shape them into a basket you can use on a table or in a kitchen. The instructor also covers how molds help support the piece while you work.
It is open to all skill levels and uses beginner level handbuilding skills, so no prior clay experience is needed. Instruction is given in English and Spanish. The class meets on a Tuesday from 10 AM to 1 PM in the Ceramics Auxiliary Classroom 301 on the third floor at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St in Reading. Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty.
Finished ceramics need time to be fired, so your basket will not go home with you the same day. Turnaround can take a few weeks, and the Programs team emails you when your piece is ready to pick up. Registration closes five business days before the class starts and can be completed on the GoggleWorks class page.
