This weekend workshop at GoggleWorks introduces sand casting, a metalworking method used to turn molten metal into small objects. Over two evenings you make molds with casting sand, pour metal, and then finish and polish your work. Students leave with completed cast pieces, such as jewelry or small sculptural forms, and a working understanding of the process.
The class is open to all skill levels and is set up for teens and adults. It meets Friday and Saturday from 6 PM to 9 PM in the Metalsmithing Studio in Building 6 on the GoggleWorks campus at 201 Washington Street in Reading. Closed-toe shoes are required in the studio.
