Welding Basics: Session C
Starts Sat, Oct 24, 11:30 AM · Member: $68.00 / Non-Member: $80.00 · Ages 16 and up

About the workshop
This single session workshop at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts introduces MIG welding. An electric arc forms between a wire electrode and the metal, melting them so they join. Students learn the basic principles and put them to use, then take home a small metal sculpture made during the session. The workshop is open to all skill levels, so no prior experience with welding is needed.
The class meets in the Welding Studio, Building 4, on the GoggleWorks campus at 201 Washington Street in Reading, and is led by instructor Brian Glaze. It is set up for teens age 16 and up and adults. Flame resistant clothing, long pants and heavy closed toe shoes are required, so plan your outfit before you arrive.
Registration is handled on the GoggleWorks class page, and it closes five business days before the class starts. Students under 18 enrolling in an adult course need written permission from a parent or guardian, arranged through the GoggleWorks programs office. GoggleWorks also offers scholarships and a waitlist if the session fills.
