Families gather at Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center for an evening of stories and a walk in the dark. The program starts indoors at McConnell Hall with a storytime book read by Ms Andrea, with staff from the Mifflin Community Library joining in.
After the story, the group heads out for a short hike into the woods after sunset. The focus is eyeshine: how animals see at night, and how we can spot them when light reflects back from their eyes. Walkers sweep their flashlight beams along the trail to look for the animals watching back.
Bring your own regular flashlight, since the center does not have enough to lend. This is a good fit for kids and grown ups together, and for anyone curious about what moves through the forest after dark. Space is limited and registration is required; sign up opens about a month before the program through the DCNR events page linked on this listing.
