Car Detailing Cost in Berks County
What car detailing costs in Berks County from the detailers' own printed menus: interior, exterior and full details, clay bar and paint correction, ceramic coating prices and what the years mean, mobile versus shop, and whether a detail pays before you sell.

A detail is the hours-long cleaning and reconditioning of the whole car, inside and out, and a full one from a Berks shop runs from about $175 for a coupe to $325 and up as of 2026. Those are starting prices, and they climb with the size of the vehicle and the shape it's in. An interior alone starts around $100, an exterior alone around $75, and a ceramic coating, the glassy layer that replaces wax for years, starts around $900. When you're ready to book, the auto detailing shops in Berks County page lists who does the work here.

Prices printed on each business's own website, read October 26, 2026. Most are the business's starting price; Sunny's is a flat price, and Apex prices each job case by case.
Size moves the price, and one Berks menu prints the whole ladder: at JC Auto Detailing a full detail is $175 for a coupe, $215 for a sedan, $250 for a two-row SUV and $300 for a three-row SUV or pickup. So tell them what you drive.
Some shops print a fixed price by body style; others quote a starting price and settle the number when they see the car. Either way, the starting prices differ by a hundred dollars or more from shop to shop, so call two or three and describe the car and its condition plainly.
What's the difference between a car wash and a detail?
A wash takes the dirt off in minutes: the express tunnel at Tommy's Express in Sinking Spring is three minutes for $12 to $22. A detail is a thorough cleaning and reconditioning of the whole car, inside and out, and a full one usually takes three to five hours.
If a wash is what you're after, the car washes in Berks County page has the local options.
What's in an interior detail, and what's in an exterior detail?
An interior detail is the inside of the car gone over with a vacuum, a steamer and a shampooer: the carpet and trunk vacuumed and the mats shampooed, the inside glass cleaned, the dash and door panels wiped down, fabric seats shampooed or leather seats steamed and conditioned, the plastics cleaned and treated. If the inside is what bothers you, this is the package I'd book first.
An exterior detail is a hand wash done properly: a spot-free wash, hand dried, door jambs and outside windows cleaned, wheel wells and rims cleaned, tires shined. On its own it doesn't fix the paint.
Fixing the paint is the step up, and it comes in two parts. The first is a clay bar, a putty rubbed over the washed paint to pull out the grit a wash leaves behind. The second is paint correction, machine polishing that takes out swirls and light scratches. Nimbus Mobile Detailing prints a one-step polish for light damage from $300 and a two-step correction for heavier marks from $500. The Detail Shoppe bundles the clay bar and the first stage of paint correction, the one-step polish, into a premium exterior package from $525.
A few add-ons carry their own prices on Berks menus: headlight restoration runs $70 to $100, an ozone treatment for odors starts around $50, and pet hair removal is priced when they see the car.
What is ceramic coating, and what does it cost in Berks?
Ceramic coating is a liquid applied by hand that hardens into a glassy layer over the paint and does the job of wax for years instead of months. For scale, a carnauba wax lasts one to three months, a paint sealant (a bottled protectant that outlasts wax) four to six months, and a professional coating two to ten years and up. A paint coating is for the outside; it doesn't clean the inside of the car.
The prep is a big part of the job. A coating put over road film or old wax bonds to the dirt instead of the paint's clear top layer and washes off in a fraction of its advertised life, so the job starts with a deep cleaning, and the polishing is either built into the package or priced as an add-on. A missed spot hardens into a cloudy streak, called a high spot, that won't wash off and has to be polished out.
The local prices run like this. Nimbus Mobile Detailing's coating, rated for two to three years, starts at $900 for a two-door coupe with the wash and clay bar, and prices the polish as an add-on to the coating, $150 to $300 for one step or $300 to $600 for two. JC Auto Detailing's three-year Platinum package, with the clay bar and a two-step correction built in, starts at $1,000. Apex Auto Detail in Bernville prices by how long the coating is rated, from $1,075 for a three-year coating to $1,800 for lifetime.
The years on any coating are a warranty or durability term, so ask what the warranty covers and what you have to do to keep it. A coating also doesn't remove swirls on its own; the polishing done before it goes on is what does that. Paint protection film and window tint are different products with their own prices, and they aren't covered here.
Mobile detailer or shop: which should you book?
Some Berks detailers come to you, some want the car in their bay, and some do both. The first question is where you'll be for three to five hours.
A mobile detailer works in your driveway or office lot out of a truck or trailer while you get on with your day. Most bring their own water; ask about power and parking when you book. Nimbus Mobile Detailing works that way across Berks and the surrounding counties.
JC Auto Detailing will do the job at your location or at its own, so you pick.
The Detail Shoppe does all of its work at its shop on Butler Street in Reading, and if you can't get there, it'll pick the car up and drop it back for $25.
Some detailers do the basic jobs on the road and keep paint correction and coatings for the shop; others do everything from the truck, so ask where the work happens before you book. Either way, the auto detailing shops in Berks County page lists the detailers here and how to reach them.
Is a detail worth it before you sell the car?
It depends on who's buying. If you're taking the car to a dealer for an offer, clean it inside and out before you go. Dealers say they can tell a last-minute cleanup from a car that's been kept up, so years of regular washing and maintenance count for more with them than one big cleaning, though a full detail is still the standard advice before a dealer appraisal, and one published test of it, a $300 detail on a used family car, didn't move the dealer's number. A private buyer is a different story: a thorough cleaning helps your car stand out against every other listing with crumbs in the photos, and that's where I'd spend the money.
Don't expect the detail to pay for itself in the sale price, though. Over the life of the car, the extra you get at sale time isn't likely to cover what two or three details cost. You're buying a faster sale and a better first impression, not a return. For the rest of the sale, our post on selling a car privately in Berks walks through it.
Frequently asked questions.
Is tax included in the price I see online?
Not always: some menus print their prices plus tax. A starting price is also an estimate until someone sees the car, so the quote to ask for is the price for your size of vehicle, in its condition, with tax.
What should I do before the appointment?
Empty the car. Take out the personal items, the kids' car seats, the dog blankets and any seat covers, and pull off bike racks, roof-mounted boxes and trailer hitches if you've got them, so the time goes into the cleaning.
How do I keep the car looking detailed without paying for a full one every time?
Book a maintenance plan. Berks detailers print maintenance visits from about $50 for an express wash and vacuum up to about $150 for an inside-and-outside touch-up. A coat of wax at least twice a year protects the paint between visits, and keeping it up costs a lot less than starting over.
So pick the package that matches what's bugging you: the interior if it's the inside, the exterior if it's dirt and grime, a polish if it's swirls and dull paint, the full detail if it's both inside and out, and a coating if you want to stop waxing for a few years. Then call two shops with your car's size and condition, ask for the price with tax, and go book it.
