Boscov's Travel

Boscov's Travel is a full-service travel agency operating inside the Boscov's department store at Reading Mall, 4500 Perkiomen Ave in Reading, Pennsylvania. The agency functions as a department within the store, which means customers can walk in during regular store hours, sit down with an agent and plan a trip without an appointment, though scheduling ahead is common for more involved itineraries such as multi-generational family vacations or group departures. The agency can be reached by phone at +1 610-779-8640.

The travel division is part of the Boscov's organization, a Pennsylvania-based, family-owned department store chain with deep roots in Berks County. The travel offices follow the same pattern as the stores themselves: located in familiar retail settings, staffed by agents who live in the region and serve a customer base that often returns for trip after trip. For many Reading-area residents, the Perkiomen Avenue location is the agency they have used for cruises, escorted tours and theme park packages over a span of years.

Services Offered

Boscov's Travel handles the full range of leisure travel planning, from single-couple getaways to large group departures. Agents work directly with cruise lines, tour operators, resorts and air consolidators, and they handle the research, booking, documentation and follow-up that independent travelers would otherwise manage themselves.

• Ocean and river cruise bookings, including sailings from nearby East Coast ports such as Baltimore, Cape Liberty, New York and Philadelphia, as well as Caribbean, Alaska, Mediterranean and transatlantic itineraries
• Theme park packages to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Universal Orlando and related destinations, including park tickets, dining plans and on-property or partner hotel stays
• All-inclusive resort vacations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America
• Escorted motorcoach tours and multi-day bus trips to destinations throughout the United States and Canada
• Air-inclusive packages, including Boscov's own charter flight programs that depart from regional airports
• Group travel coordination for churches, clubs, schools, workplaces, reunions, destination weddings and extended families
• Honeymoon and anniversary trip planning
• International vacation packages to Europe, the British Isles, Hawaii and beyond
• Travel insurance options and guidance on coverage levels
• Motorcoach transportation to cruise piers and airports in connection with many booked packages

Charter Flight and Package Programs

One feature that distinguishes Boscov's Travel from many independent agencies is its charter flight program. Rather than selling only published airline schedules, the agency organizes block departures tied to specific vacation packages, most often to Orlando and other theme park destinations. These departures typically originate from regional airports convenient to eastern Pennsylvania travelers, which spares families the drive to Philadelphia or Newark and the parking costs that come with it. Charter packages generally bundle airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transfers and park admission into a single booking handled by one agent.

The agency also coordinates motorcoach transportation to cruise ports, with Baltimore and the New York and New Jersey terminals being frequent departure points for Reading-area passengers. For travelers who would rather not drive to a pier, park a vehicle for a week and drive home after a late-night debarkation, the bus-to-pier arrangement is often the deciding factor in booking through the agency rather than directly with a cruise line.

Group and Specialty Travel

Group bookings make up a meaningful portion of the agency's work. Berks County churches, senior centers, alumni associations and social clubs organize annual trips through Boscov's Travel, and the agents handle rooming lists, payment schedules, deposit deadlines, document collection and the logistics of moving a large party through airports and cruise terminals. Group leaders typically work with a single point of contact who tracks each participant's paperwork and keeps the organizer informed as deadlines approach.

Destination specialists are another part of the operation. Some agents focus heavily on Disney and Universal planning, where knowledge of resort categories, dining reservation windows, park reservation systems and seasonal crowd patterns makes a measurable difference in the quality of a trip. Others concentrate on cruise lines, European tours or all-inclusive resorts. Customers who have a particular destination in mind can ask when calling whether a specialist in that area is available.

Location, Access and Practical Information

The agency sits within the Boscov's store at Reading Mall on Perkiomen Avenue, a location with a large surface parking lot and direct store entrances. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, and accessible parking is available in the lot. Because the office is inside the department store, access follows the store's footprint, with level entry from the parking area and no stairs required to reach the travel counter.

Services are provided on site, meaning consultations, document handoffs and payments take place in person at the travel desk. Many customers combine a travel consultation with a regular shopping trip to the store, which is one practical advantage of the in-store model. Phone consultations are also common, particularly for repeat clients and for group organizers who have already established a working relationship with an agent.

Travelers planning international trips should ask their agent early about passport validity requirements, visas, entry authorizations and any destination-specific documentation, since some countries require electronic travel authorizations or health paperwork submitted in advance of departure. Bringing passport details, preferred travel dates, a general budget range and the names and birth dates of everyone traveling to the first meeting helps the agent produce accurate quotes without a second round of questions.

Why Travelers Use an Agency

Booking through a storefront agency differs from assembling a trip piece by piece online. An agent compares options across multiple suppliers, flags promotional pricing and group rates that are not always visible to the public, arranges the pieces so that flights, transfers and hotel check-ins line up, and serves as a point of contact if something changes before or during the trip. For cruises and escorted tours in particular, agency bookings often carry amenities such as onboard credits or included transfers that are attached to the agency's contracted inventory.

Boscov's Travel operates in that traditional model: a physical office in a familiar Reading location, staffed by agents who handle the planning and keep the paperwork straight, with the Perkiomen Avenue store serving customers throughout Berks County and the surrounding region.
