When: Open year round from dawn to dusk.
Admission: Free
Parking: Main lot and park entrance on Geiger Road, with a bulletin board, trail maps, picnic area and primitive restrooms. A second lot at the bottom of Hill Road at the rear of the hill connects by trail to the Creek Trail.
Dogs: Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash at all times on the trails and in the picnic and parking areas.
Know before you go: Park rules posted by Amity Township: stay on the trails, no motorized vehicles, no overnight camping, no alcohol, no fires except in the picnic grills, no target shooting, no smoking, do not pick or remove plants, and no horseback or mountain bike riding during April and May. The area is open to all Pennsylvania Game Commission hunting seasons; the association advises people and pets to wear bright orange. A trail map was updated in February 2025 and a QR code at the entrance links to it. Check the association's Facebook page for event notices and cancellations.

Monocacy Hill is a 428 acre wooded hill in Amity Township, just off Route 422 near Douglassville. Amity Township bought the land in 1967 to keep it as open space, and the volunteer Monocacy Hill Conservation Association maintains the trails and facilities. It is open year round from dawn to dusk and there is no charge to visit.

We come here to walk the roughly six miles of blazed trails. The white Monocacy Hill Trail climbs to the 680 foot summit, where the trees open onto the Schuylkill River and Monocacy Creek valleys. The blue Creek Trail follows boardwalks and a bridge past a small waterfall, the green Lower Trail loops the south end past the ruins of the Shirey Homestead, and the yellow Railbed Trail switchbacks along an old quarry railroad bed. The hill is also known for its xenoliths, a geology feature the association highlights on its educational pages, and for a pollinator field the association planted.

The main entrance is the Geiger Road lot, which has a bulletin board with trail maps, a picnic area with charcoal grills, and primitive restrooms. A second, newer lot at the bottom of Hill Road connects to the Creek Trail. The property is open to hunting in every season the Pennsylvania Game Commission recognizes, so we wear bright orange in the fall and winter.
