A Rich Historical Legacy

Stepping inside our sanctuary, you’ll sense the echoes of history that have shaped our congregation. Housed in a sturdy structure dating back to the early 1900s, Salem Pentecostal Haitian Church Reading carries forward a legacy that spans generations. Over the years, our church has witnessed countless baptisms, celebrations, and transformations, all under the same century-old roof. This historic building doesn’t just represent architectural heritage; it embodies the perseverance and faith of our community through changing times. For more than ten years, we’ve honored that past while looking forward to the promise of tomorrow.

Embracing Cultural Diversity and Inclusivity

Salem Pentecostal Haitian Church Reading stands out for its commitment to cultural diversity. While we are deeply rooted in Haitian Pentecostal traditions, our building also houses another vibrant congregation—the Hispanic community of Kairo Methodist Church. This unique partnership underscores our belief in unity through diversity. By sharing space with “otra iglesia de hispano llamada Iglesia Metodista del Kairo,” we’ve created a microcosm of cross-cultural fellowship. Together, our congregations worship, pray, and serve side by side, enriching each other’s faith journeys and demonstrating that the love of Christ knows no borders.

A Strong Sense of Community and Belonging

For many attendees, Salem Pentecostal Haitian Church Reading is more than a Sunday destination—it’s the center of a caring community. Regular members describe a powerful sense of belonging that extends beyond the sanctuary walls. People gather for potlucks, youth activities, Bible study groups, and outreach initiatives, forging bonds that resonate throughout Reading and beyond. Our elders mentor the young, families find support in times of need, and long-time members share stories that pass on the church’s heritage. This intergenerational tapestry is woven with threads of trust, compassion, and unwavering faith.
