The Appell Center for the Performing Arts is two restored historic theatres, the Strand and the Capitol, in downtown York, PA. It presents touring Broadway, concerts, comedy, dance, family shows and films.
The Strand opened in 1925 and the Capitol in 1906, and the two reopened together on April 12, 1980 after restoration, with Ella Fitzgerald at the opening gala. This fall the Broadway series brings The Wiz (October 21) and Beetlejuice (December 15), alongside Old Crow Medicine Show, David Sedaris, Alton Brown, the York Symphony and classic films in the Capitol. Downtown garages are $2 after 5pm on weekdays and free on weekends.

Arrive early for bag check and security screening; outside food and drink are not allowed. Downtown garages are $2 after 5pm weekdays and free on weekends. Mobile tickets carry no fee and arrive by email 48 hours before the show. The Strand balcony has an elevator; both theatres have ADA seating.
