Plan the day
Lehigh Valley Zoo is an AZA-accredited zoo inside the Trexler Nature Preserve in Schnecksville, PA, run by the nonprofit Lehigh Valley Zoological Society since 2004.
A zoo you can circle in 45 minutes or stretch to three hours, with African penguins, giraffes, sloths, lorikeets and reptiles, inside the Trexler Nature Preserve. The zoo says the mild spring and fall months are the best times to see the animals active. From November 13 to January 2 the grounds become the Winter Light Spectacular, now in its 13th year.
Before you go
You may bring your own food and drink (no alcohol). No pets, emotional support or therapy animals; only ADA service animals. The zoo sits at the end of Game Preserve Road, and one eastern approach has an 8-foot-2 clearance limit, so check the directions page before you go.
Coming up
Boo at the Zoo runs October 17 and 18, 24 and 25, 31 and November 1 from 10am to 3:30pm; the Winter Light Spectacular runs November 13 through January 2.
Checked October 8, 2026 on the official site. Hours, prices and seasons change, so confirm there before a long drive. Lehigh Valley Zoo also has a listing on BerksConnect.
