Dinner Features Served with a Salad and Warm Bread

Every dinner feature at Jimmie Kramer's Peanut Bar is served with a salad and, if requested, warm bread with butter. The features run from the Broiled Salmon Salad at $18.99 and the Peanut Butter Shrimp and/or Chicken or Vegan Pasta at $24.99 up to a broiled 9 oz. Brazilian lobster tail at $29.99. The menu marks AGF as available gluten free and Ⓥ as vegan; no end date is stated.

The Peanut Bar is a fine dining restaurant at 332 Penn Street in downtown Reading. Inside, branches wrapped in fairy lights stretch overhead and screens cycle through vintage photographs of the city, giving the dining room a character all its own.

Regulars talk about the peanut butter pasta, with jumbo Gulf shrimp or chicken sauteed with garlic, onions, carrots, mushrooms and cabbage in a South African inspired peanut butter sauce. The broiled seafood platter, with salmon, tilapia, shrimp, scallops and a mini Maryland crab cake, comes up often too, along with the wings and the pretzel ice cream pie.

Bags of complimentary peanuts land on every table, and shelling them is part of the tradition here. Beyond the features, the kitchen turns out seafood, German specialties, vegan plates and a run of peanut-themed dishes, with portions guests consider fair for the price.

You will find them in Reading. The dinner features and their terms are listed on the menu page at peanutbar.com, where reservations can also be made.
