East Coast Karate holds a one time introductory class at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education, open to new students from age 6 through adult. Every new student in the program starts here, and the session gives you a clear look at how the traditional martial arts training works before joining regular classes.
The program builds mind, body, and spirit together. Students learn skills for protecting themselves along with the confidence to use them, and the training puts steady emphasis on focus, respect, self-discipline, responsibility, and persistence that carry into school, work, and daily life.
Come in comfortable exercise clothes, long pants and a t-shirt, since no uniform is needed for this session. Participants train in bare feet. Instructors will go over class placement with families and students during the class, and those who decide to continue can move into the regular schedule for the rest of the month.
