East Coast Karate at the Yocum Institute opens its doors with a one time introductory class for new students ages 6 through adult. Everyone joining the martial arts program starts here, and the session is built to show you how classes run before you commit to a schedule.
The traditional program focuses on mind, body, and spirit together. Students learn skills to protect themselves along with the confidence to use them, and the training builds focus, respect, self-discipline, and persistence that carry over into school, work, and home life.
Come in comfortable exercise clothes, long pants and a t-shirt, since participants train in bare feet. No uniform is needed for this first class. Instructors will talk with families and students about class placement during the session, so you leave knowing which group fits best.
