About the event
Every Wednesday, year round, the grounds on Gernants Church Road fill up with one of Berks County's largest gathering places for food and finds. Indoor and outdoor sections hold vendors bringing fresh produce, meats, dairy, plants, and baked goods, much of it straight from the farms, butcher shops, and bakeries the sellers run themselves.
There is more here than groceries. Sheltered aisles and open lots hold vendors of all trades, prepared food stands, and the flea market tables that draw treasure hunters up the hill. A livestock auction runs on the grounds as well, which makes for a memorable stop if you are bringing children along.
Once a month, the market adds a Sunday flea market, and the calendar fills out across the year with craft shows, toy shows, and other special gatherings. Wear comfortable shoes, since the grounds spread out, and give yourself time to walk the whole thing. Parking is plentiful.
