Families can welcome the new year without staying up late at the Reading Public Museum's Noon Year's Eve celebration. Museum Educators and community partners lead a morning of craft stations where kids make party hats, noisemakers, and other festive props to carry through the countdown.

Music and dancing keep the energy going as the morning builds toward the main event: a balloon drop at noon inside the Neag Planetarium. The planetarium dome makes an unusual and memorable setting for the countdown, and the earlier hour means younger children can take part from start to finish.

The celebration is built for family groups, so expect plenty of movement, noise, and room for kids to join in at their own pace. It is a good fit for anyone looking to mark December 31 with children who would rather dance at noon than wait until midnight.
