About the event
The Pagoda Hillclimb brings vintage and modern race cars to Duryea Drive, the winding road that climbs Mount Penn toward one of Reading's most recognizable landmarks. Drivers take the course one at a time, running against the clock up a series of tight switchbacks and steep grades that have made this stretch of pavement a favorite among hillclimb competitors.
Spectators can watch from designated viewing areas along the hill, where the sound of engines working through the curves carries across the wooded slope. Between runs, the paddock area is typically where fans get a closer look at the cars and talk with the crews who prepare and maintain them. It is a straightforward motorsport format that rewards precision and nerve, and it is easy to follow even if you have never been to a race before.
Dates for the June 2027 event are still being confirmed. Watch for an announcement as the date approaches, and plan for comfortable shoes and sun protection if you intend to walk the hill.
