The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum transforms its Reading grounds into a living tribute to the World War II era for WWII Weekend, a gathering of warbirds that fills the ramp with vintage aircraft and the surrounding fields with period encampments. Fighters, bombers, transports, and liaison and training planes come together in one place, and several aircraft offer rides for those who want to experience flight the way crews did decades ago.
Beyond the flight line, reenactors set up camps representing Allied and Axis forces, giving visitors a close look at the uniforms, vehicles, and daily routines of the time. Special guests and speakers share firsthand perspectives and historical context, while period entertainers keep the music and atmosphere of the 1940s alive across the grounds. A 1940s hangar dance rounds out the weekend for anyone who wants to step onto the floor.
This is the museum's primary fundraising event, supporting its work preserving the aviation history of the Mid-Atlantic region. Plan for a full day of walking, plenty to see up close, and a schedule that spans the entire weekend.
