Monthly Pension for Amputee and Paralyzed Veterans in Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) runs the Amputee and Paralyzed Veterans Pension, which pays eligible veterans a monthly pension of $150.
To qualify, you must have been a resident of Pennsylvania upon entering the military, have received an Honorable or Under Honorable Conditions discharge, and have suffered a service-connected injury or incurred a disease resulting in the loss or loss of use of two or more extremities, meaning arms or hands or legs or feet. You must also have at least a 40% disability compensation rating or higher in each limb, as determined and certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
To apply, contact the County Director of Veterans Affairs in the county where you live. Berks County veterans use the Berks County director. Having the proper documentation ready helps the application process go quickly and smoothly.

The pension is set in law at 51 Pa Consolidated Statutes Chapter 77, with regulations listed as 43 Pa Code Chapter 5. DMVA also reports that on August 19 and 20, 2026, a final-form regulation, 13-6, on state veterans' benefits was approved; that regulation would rescind and reserve 43 Pa. Code Part I, Chapter 5 and replace it with Chapter 5a. Your County Director of Veterans Affairs can tell you which rules apply to your application now.
