Blind Veterans Pension of $150 a Month From Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) administers the Blind Veterans Pension, which pays eligible veterans a monthly pension of $150 when a service-connected injury or disease caused the loss of their vision.
To qualify, you must have been a resident of Pennsylvania upon entering the military and have received an Honorable or Under Honorable Conditions discharge. Your vision loss must come from a service-connected injury or a disease you incurred, and your visual acuity with correcting lens must be 3/60 or 10/200 or equivalent, or less normal vision in the better eye. You can also qualify if the widest diameter of the visual field of the better eye has contracted to an angular distance of not greater than 20 degrees.
The benefit is $150 each month. The page does not say how long payments continue or how soon they begin after you apply.

The program rests on state law at 51 Pa Consolidated Statutes Chapter 77, and the program page cites regulations at 43 Pa Code Chapter 5. DMVA's Veterans Affairs page reports that Regulation 13-6, which would rescind and reserve 43 Pa. Code Part I, Chapter 5 and replace it with Chapter 5a on State Veterans' Programs, was deemed approved by the House and Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees on August 19, 2026 and approved by the Independent Regulatory Review Commission on August 20, 2026. Because of that change, ask the County Director of Veterans Affairs or the DMVA whether any program rules have been updated.
