Olivet Boys & Girls Club After School Program in Reading
Olivet Boys & Girls Club of Reading and Berks County signs children up for its after school program at six clubs in Reading, and enrollment for the 2026-2027 Afterschool Program is open. You enroll by filling out the Youth Membership Application online at olivetbgc.org/online-membership-application.
The page does not state a minimum or maximum age for the program. The form asks for the child's date of birth, age, and the school and grade the child will be in for 2026-2027.
You choose the club your child will attend when you fill out the form. The six locations are:
- Center for the Arts (CFA) - 328 Walnut street Reading, PA 19601
- Clinton - 677 Clinton street Reading, PA 19601
- Mulberry - 722 Mulberry St., Reading, PA 19604
- Oakbrook - 1161 Pershing Blvd Reading, PA 19611
- PAL - 325 Walnut St., Reading, PA 19601
- Pendora - 330 S 19th street Reading PA 19606
Olivet will not accept incomplete membership applications. All information must be provided, and if a field does not apply you write N/A. Along with the child's name, address, t-shirt size, preferred name and school lunch eligibility, the form asks about food, environmental and other allergies, diagnosed medical conditions, medications and dosages, medical history, health insurance and the child's physician. There is also a household section: household composition, how many people live with you, primary language spoken at home and by the child, and a range for annual household income. Olivet says this household information is needed by several of the organizations that provide it with financial support, and that when it is reported it is reported anonymously as part of totals or averages rather than as specific households.
You must list a primary parent or guardian, a secondary parent or guardian, and an emergency contact, with phone numbers for each. Everyone listed as a contact is authorized to pick up the member, and Olivet asks you not to list yourself or other parents and guardians as emergency contacts. You can also add another person authorized to pick up your child. The form ends with policy agreements you sign electronically, covering emergency medical care, allergies, medication administration, program and field trip participation, transportation, photographs and videos, belongings, and dismissal.
Some situations call for extra paperwork:
- For a food allergy, medical documentation or a doctor's note is required so that alternative meals or snacks can be made available.
- Before staff will give any medication, a parent or guardian must complete a Medication Administration Consent Authorization Form, and the medication must come in the original pharmacy packaging with the original label showing the member's full name and dosage instructions. Those medications are stored in a space only staff can reach.
- If there is a restraining order against anyone that would prevent contact with the member, legal documentation must be provided.
Olivet provides transportation so children can take part in certain additional programs and activities, including the arts, educational field trips and intramural sports. A child who is not at the club by the designated pick-up time may not be able to join the activity that day.
At dismissal, each child is either a "Walker," dismissed at the designated Walker dismissal time without a parent, guardian or approved contact present, or a "Parent/Guardian Pick-Up," who must be picked up by an approved contact listed on the application by the designated pick-up time. Late pick-up brings a fine of $15.00 for every 15 minutes late past the designated pick up time, and you are asked to tell Olivet ahead of time if you expect to be late. Olivet cannot accept verbal permission, including permission given by phone, to dismiss a Parent/Guardian Pick-Up. Pick-up status can only be changed by filling out Olivet's forms for pick-up status changes.
There is a membership fee and there are weekly fees. The page does not say how much they are, so ask Olivet. Membership is not finalized or active until an Olivet staff member contacts you and payment for the membership fee is received. Olivet partners with Highmark Wholecare/Gateway Health, which provides limited financial support toward Olivet membership and weekly fees for children covered under its plans, and the form asks your permission to share your child's information with Highmark Wholecare/Gateway Health only to check whether the child qualifies for that support.
A Spanish version of the form, "Solicitud de miembro español," is posted next to the English one at olivetbgc.org/online-membership-application-spanish.
For questions about the club nearest you, the Club Locations page at olivetbgc.org/locations lists contact information for each club. For general questions, the administrative office can be reached Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm at (610) 373-1314, or by email at info@olivetbgc.org. Administrative Coordinator Jeannie Pimental speaks Spanish and can help callers in Spanish during those office hours.
The page does not give club hours or the daily after school schedule, so ask your club about those. Note that the PAL and Mulberry clubs are described as reopening after renovations.
