About the class
Alvernia University President Glynis Fitzgerald, Ph.D., leads this Seniors College session on the future of Catholic higher education, seen through the lens of Alvernia's Franciscan mission. She talks about what it means to educate students to lead with purpose, integrity and compassion, and about the opportunities and pressures facing Catholic colleges now.
The conversation also looks at the part that philanthropy, partnerships and community engagement play in keeping that kind of education going. Expect a talk with room for discussion rather than coursework or homework. Lunch is included with the session.
The class meets on a Tuesday morning at the McGlinn Conference Center, 460 Saint Bernardine Street, Reading. Seniors College is open to older adults in the area, and no background in higher education or theology is needed.
