Trixie is a therapy dog who visits the Mifflin Community Library in Shillington to listen to readers. The idea is simple: pick out a book, settle in with Trixie, and read aloud to her.
The visits run as a series on Thursday evenings at the library on Philadelphia Avenue. Everyone is welcome, from young children working through their first books to teens, adults and seniors who would like some quiet time with a calm dog.
Reading out loud to a friendly listener can take the pressure off, so this is a good fit for new or nervous readers. To ask about the next visit, contact the Mifflin Community Library at 610-777-3911.
