About Santander Arena
Santander Arena sits at 700 Penn Street in downtown Reading, on the block where the old Astor theater once stood. It opened in September 2001 as the Sovereign Center and is the largest indoor venue in Berks County, seating up to 8,800 for concerts and 7,200 for hockey. Oak View Group runs it together with the Santander Performing Arts Center a few blocks away on North 6th Street, so the two share a box office, a ticketing system and a calendar.
What happens here
The arena is the home ice of the Reading Royals, the ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, and the season runs from October into spring. Between games it hosts touring concerts across every genre, comedy tours, family shows, monster trucks, bull riding and the Harlem Globetrotters. Acts that have played the room include Bad Bunny, Kevin Hart, Pitbull, Slipknot, Marc Anthony, Daddy Yankee, Little Big Town and Jeff Dunham. For smaller shows, a curtained configuration called The Theater at Santander Arena brings the stage closer and cuts the room down to a more intimate size.
Tickets and the box office
Tickets are sold in person at the box office, which is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and opens at noon on Royals game days. Groups of ten or more can book discounted rates on select shows through group sales, with no deposit up front and pricing locked in for late additions.
Seating and premium options
Beyond the regular sections, the arena offers the Loft Lounge on the suite level, single-night suite rentals with lounge access and hospitality service, season suite memberships, and personal seat licenses in sections 116 through 118 that come with full Royals season tickets. The Priority Access Club gives members early access to tickets for every event at both venues.
Before you go
Doors open one hour before showtime. The arena is cashless, so bring a card or use Apple Pay at concessions. Bags must be clear and no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a small clutch, with exceptions for diaper bags and medical items. The arena is a KultureCity certified sensory-inclusive venue, with sensory bags and quiet resources available for guests who need them, and accessible seating is available in every price level.
Getting there and parking
The arena is in the center of downtown, a short walk from Penn Street's restaurants and bars. Event parking is in the garages and lots run by the Reading Parking Authority, including Chiarelli Plaza, Fourth and Cherry, Seventh and Washington, the DoubleTree garage on Court Street, and the South Penn lot on Franklin Street. Accessible parking is available in several of the garages.
